Hao Qi Gong sequence
written by Philip Shields as studied from Master Alex Dong
1. Assume horse stance (wider than shoulder width). Raise hands to push palms upwards and outwards over head.
2. Slowly lower hands to upper chest height, keeping palms pushed out and elbows rounded.
3. Slowly lower hands to tan tien, pushing down with palms and elbows rounded.
4. Slowly draw hands to sides and push out diagonally down (still approximately tan tien height)
5. Slowly sweep hands towards the rear, while straightening the legs, opening the chest and squeezing the shoulder blades (body can lean slightly forward). Fingers point to the rear as much as you can. Energy is in the heels of the hands.
6. Close hands into fists and 'pull' to palms up position in front of chest. Turn fists palms down, pull apart and 'punch' straight out to the sides.
7. Slowly pull back and return fists palms up in front of chest. Turn waist to left and turn fists palms down, pull apart and 'punch' straight out to the sides.
8. Repeat step 7 - return to centre, turn waist to right side and turn fists palms down, pull apart and 'punch' straight out to the sides
9. Slowly pull back and return to centre. Open hands as elbows drop vertically downwards to push fingers up to sky (raise hands as high as you can without lifting shoulders) palms face inwards.
10. Slowly turn palms down, pushing energy down to tan tien then turn palms up and gather and bring hand (energy) up to chest and repeat several times and finish.
